Who we are
Student Researchers
Stories from originally started as a class project whereby students learning English could work on a project that had a meaningful outcome while practicing their English skills. So, suffice to say students are some of the main volunteers on our projects. Much of the original story collection and research is conducted by students, who then use the information to create a data base of the stories. This data base is then shared with writers and illustrators, who use the information to do their part of the book. Doing this not only helps to improve the students English communication skills, but helps them to develop a deeper understanding and respect for the community that they are working with. We look forward to working with more students on all up-coming projects as they are an integral part of the process.

Design Students and Supervisors
Stories from is very fortunate to be able to work with some brilliant young designers from the Design school. Their work on Almost Home exceeded everyone's expectations and helped to make the book a success. Headed by Hafiz, up to 20 students work on each book providing numerous amazing ideas and illustrations. It is then up to Lilian (compilation) to choose which ones will feature in the book itself - that's no easy task I can assure you. Although the design students change for each book, we are always amazed with the work and effort that they put into each story. Our books wouldn't be the same without them.

The Writers
The stories from our book are written by people who give up their time for free, and we have been very fortunate to find some amazing writers to help us adapt each story. The stories come to the writers transcribed as interviews. It is then up to the writers to give each story a narrative feel, and more importantly, to find its heart. It means that the writers have to try and get into the head of the person they are writing for, and then convey the story in an engaging way.
Stories usually go through a few drafts before the final version is ready to be handed. To date we have worked with over 20 writers, some of which are professional, some are budding amateurs who just love to write. Many of the writers were crowd sourced online to find people with an interest in writing. Now, we have a pool of writers that always seem to blow us away with their beautifully written stories.

The Stories from Team
The stories from team is large because each book has so many stages from story collection to setting up launch events. We all work together to make sure the whole process goes smoothly and that each year we are able to release a new book of amazing stories. Many of the team members take on multiple roles such as event organiser and writer, or site visit supervisor and proof reader. However many jobs there are to be done, we always make sure that we can release a book each year.
